ARTreach

I found out the name of the program that my neighbor is involved in. It's called ARTreach. As part of the program, workers, some volunteers, some paid associates, travel to third world countries and teach and encourage art not just to the youth, though they are their main focus, but to anyone with the desire to learn. My neighbor was involved in a project in Bosnia in which she taught children about various art forms and the benefits of art in their lives. One of the main focuses of the program is to teach their students to take what they have learned and, in turn, teach their community. They were asked to take the program to the Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina and provide an outlet and form of expression for the communities affected by the disaster.
